For those who wish to draw more

SketchcrawlMo November 22, 2009

I was lucky enough to participate in the Worldwide Sketchcrawl (like a pubcrawl, but with more more hand/eye coordination) this Saturday. The NYC group met in front of the Chelsea Wine Vault at the Chelsea Market at 11 a.m. and, minus a break for lunch at 3 p.m., the last of us drew until 6:30 p.m. We spent the early afternoon on the High Line, then did post-lunch sketching at Chelsea Market (there was string quartet playing and great people watching), and ended the day with a walk to Times Square—stopping on the way to sketch a taco truck on 29th Street.

You can see other New Yorkers’ sketches and photos over at the Sketchcrawl boards. My drawings and links to fellow Sketchcrawlers’ blogs are after the jump…

anywhere but here

Had a bad attitude when I started the sketch, clearly I was trying to escape my present reality by imagining Italy, or France, or anywhere but here.

I cheated by doing tomorrows drawing tonight. Tomorrow’s too hectic. More over the weekend when I’ll be free from work for the rest of the Drawmo challenge. Yippee!

today’s last-minute effort is celebratory:

been playing with Scribbler the last couple of days – it’s hell fun, and some of the results are terrific. Original drawings are on flickr too, but they’re just frameworks to go nuts on with scribbler.

top of the coat/hatrack in my room that holds all the scarves, hats & shawls etc that I never wear. Texta on cartridge.

quick pencil sketch of my daughter’s hands. 2B on cartridge.

Jacqui 11/21 – At the pre-party November 22, 2007

It’s been hard to draw while I’ve been on vacation with another person. I stayed awake to do this one. It’s supposed to be a quick draw but I couldn’t decide if I was going to include the shadows or not so they are a bit ambiguous. I used colored pencils I bought at a 99 cent store and a regular drawing pencil and a ball point.

I was surprised at how much Ronald McDonald is a little scary looking (like most clowns) and how much he resembles the Joker.

If you get up early on Thanksgiving morning and watch TV, you may recognize this drawing. :-)

Multimedia message

Late start getting on the road today and way too much traffic! I finally decided to sketch while my husband drove. I made a stab at assorted trees. Cell phone towers are everywhere!

Here’s what I’ve been using to create my Drawmo posts:

Wacom tablet

Mostly I use the “dry media brushes” within Photoshop Elements, but this one is mostly “wet media”:

Happy Thanksgiving!

A minimal drawing today.  Our daughter and her family are about to arrive and I’m up to my elbows in pecan pie and candied orange peel.  This is my little plastic farmer guy and his victim.  I only have a plastic chicken so doing the turkey was problematic–using a picture which wasn’t the right pose.  Anyway, it’s done.
