Phew! Tried very hard to find something other to draw than people at coffeehouses, but after ending up with my own left hand on wednesdays sketch I was back drinking coffee yesterday. I must take a look around the house and see if I can’t find some objects worth spending time on. Some kitchen utensils perhaps. And next week I’m considering throwing in some colors too. Not making any promises but I will try …
Made two drawings on my way to work today. A good excuse to stop for a nice cup of coffee. Must buy a new sketchbook later today, as the old one only has one page left. As it happens I love to buy art supplies, so I’m not complaining.
I work a block away from a Fluevog store, and I’ve been eyeing these pumps for months. Every time there’s a sale, I go in to check the price. This style never goes on sale. So today I finally bit the bullet, tried them on, and bought them.
The polka dots belong to a Douglas Coupland coffee table that’s at the office where I do some of my freelance work. The white on the left is my sketchbook, open on my knee.
I used a mix of pen and colored pencil, because I needed brown. My mini-pen set doesn’t contain any browns, as I’ve complained many times, but the pencil set at the office had two.
Because I am a lousy art director, I had to do a couple of drawings for work this weekend. I’m not happy with them, but I certainly did draw them. Over and over and over . . .

It’s much easier to just hire someone else to do it. I wish I could remember that for more than five minutes.
I love the Christmas flavors at Starbucks. Today was a gingerbread soy latte, no foam, thank you very much.
Wine – a glass of red and a glass of white. I started and finished this sketch with a 4b pencil. I considered switching to a different one at some point but then decided to not fuss for fear that I would make it worse than it was.
This month has gone so fast and I’ve really enjoyed the daily draws. With only five more drawing days left, I’m trying to figure out how to remember to keep drawing after November ends!
