I don’t know what kind of critter this was–possibly a rabbit–with one long tooth left. Maybe the teeth grew so long the poor thing couldn’t eat anymore? I tried Bristol Board but didn’t like the surface for charcoal.
oh man
i’ve been reaaally bad about updating my drawmos! i’ve been not quite as bad at actually drawing them, but i am a few days behind.. my weekends are always so busy. i might not get to do one every day of the month, but i’m going to make sure i do one for every day of the month!
so here are three more for now, days 5, 6 and 7.
day 5, tree on hill. i was bored with my normal scribbly way of drawing in paint, so i decided to do a drawing using mostly left right strokes. out of bordumb more than anything else.
day 6, pink dino died. not ultra realistic, but hey, it’s a paintbrush drawing.
day 7, bread in space. i did another version where there were stars and things in the back, but i didn’t like it as much.
as always, click on the picture for the larger version.
i could say that i’m going to be better at updating on time, but knowing me, saying something like that is a sure fire way to make sure i don’t do that.. so i’m going to just say this; by the end of all this, there will be 30 drawings on here from me. probably all in paint.

I went for a walk in the woods and found wonderful dried vegetation–milkweed pods, goldenrod, pearly everlasting, etc. This drawing is of a sensitive fern–a rather coarse, invasive fern. I liked the animation in the twisted dead leaves–such interesting lines–like a dance.

big fat Staedtler Lumocolor marker in sketchbook. I wasn’t happy with how the drawing (of the seedpod again) was going, so I extemporised w seeds and a leaf then decided to play with backgrounds. Not a patch on Mandy’s great patterns; I’m just not naturally inclined to those neat straight lines, so I said buggerit & went off on random wobbly-patterned tangents. Looks rather a lot like the sort of doodles I used to do before I filled in spare moments with blogsurfing.
my 4.5 yo daughter’s decided to join the fun, btw. Cracks me up how serious she is about it, I should set up the video to capture the narration of every stroke. Here’s yesterday’s:
Pomegranate November 7, 2007
I did this at my office desk, over two days: started it yesterday with a lousy contour drawing and then colored it in today while scanning pages of a story. It’s based on this photo by Flickr user justinleif. We’re publishing an article tomorrow in which a pomegranate layer cake is mentioned (!!!), so I rather arbitrarily decided to draw something pomegranate-related.
It’s hard to get large areas of saturated color with these tiny little Stabilo pens, but I had a lot of time on my hands.

Being behind wasn’t great, but I have been enjoying the seeing everyone else’s work so far. Gorgeous stuff, and full of ideas. Here are my drawings for Days 1–3. I’m trying to pursue a theme of autumnal things. Small blue toys don’t fit.
(Can anybody tell me how to avoid the creation of the grayish background when scanning the images?)

Well, it’s Melbourne Cup day here today where I am, which means work finished at around 2.00 pm and champagne began flowing. Amazing that I can still use a keyboard. Yesterday, when I was out walking, I picked this leaf to swish away flies. Its an insignificant drawing, but still, I drew, with black pen, not much else
I ain’t got no body November 4, 2007
I went to an all day drawing marathon at the local university and they had a lot of things to draw. They had nude models, but to be honest, I see them once a week in my figure drawing class, so no biggie. So I drew this animal skull. There were actually about 4–6 skulls just lying around. It kinda looked like a serial killer’s backyard. Ha! Just kidding. ;-)
