quail

Took a few minutes to go into the studio to draw leaving the hubbub of football and kitchen chaos behind. Had told my daughter I was going to go draw a turkey. When she came to visit a few minutes later, she asked “That’s not a turkey, is it?”

Nope.

Oops again.

I love the Christmas flavors at Starbucks. Today was a gingerbread soy latte, no foam, thank you very much.

H&R – My husband’s paternal grandparents, Harry and Rae. This turned out a lot more cartoon like than I had anticipated but on the plus side it was quick. I spent most of the time fussing with a background.

I was trying for Billy Joel, but didn’t quite make it. Oh well, it was a 10 minute drawing. We’ll just pretend he’s singing, “Piano Man”. If you want to see me drawing this, I have some photos on Flickr. http://flickr.com/photos/86825355@N00/2067378484/

This one’s probably my favorite of the month thusfar. These chicks were lying out on the counter at the lake house Saturday night before our big barbecue. If you’d like a shot at this free postcard, comment at the blog and email a delivery address like it says here.

I had a 2.5-hour layover in Brussels this morning, on my way to Dublin, so I did some drawings from a seat in the middle of the shopping area.

Café

Some signs were reflected on the shiny floor:

ALCOHOL TO

Escalator

I have decided that Brussels is an excellent country city, by the way, because everything is in both French and Dutch: two languages I can’t speak at all but love to listen to.

I found a black sketchbook today, and since I bought a “charcoal white” pencil the other day it all seemed destined for me to bring home & play with. I really need to stop drawing with the sketchbook flat on the table; the distortion in perspective really shits me lol
