Drawing number one of thirty. I plan to draw this tiny still life every day this month. I have marked off two-inch squares on a piece of paper, and wonder what the page will look like when I’m done.

When I first saw this it looked (OK, still looks), like a huge, gorgeous Easter Island-type idol in the middle of a circus ring with the crowd behind looking on in awe. Cirque du DrawMo!
I like the idea of 2″ squares (composition, hooray!). It’ll be neat to see if you or others see a narrative emerge as the weeks go on. Although I don’t know what could top the stuff I saw in this first bit. I would pay good money to see that circus.

Love the idea of Cirque du DrawMo! A one ring circus, since I plan to be drawing or painting this same still life again and again this month – but who knows how the image will be transformed in the process of simple repetition? 30 frames is more or less a second of video, too… hmm.

I like the idea of doing the same still life but I don’t think I could keep it up for thirty days. I best survive November first.

  4. I don’t know how I’ll do the same still life for 30 days, either – that’s why I decided to try. I’m hoping that I find things out as I go along…
