My first real sketch in the new Moleskine, done in pencil at the computer while watching Dead Poets Society on DrawMo Eve (aka Halloween). My Day 1 sketch is here too, after the break. Scribbly lil’ NYC landscape that was a lot of fun to draw.
Drawn from the benches in front of the Astoria Houses, some projects north of the Socrates Sculpture Park, parallel to the northern tip of Roosevelt Island (where the lighthouse is). Beautiful morning, my first ever en plein drawing done wearing my fancy prescription shades. Afterwards, I sat on the bench and finished reading Paul Collins latest book, The Trouble with Tom: The Strange Afterlife and Times of Thomas Paine. The spot and the book are both recommended. The big honkin’ arrow indicates which way the tide was flowing when I was drawing. I love estuaries.
